Good afternoon, Westside Families!

Our 2026 Western Ohio Aquatics League Season will officially kickoff on Tuesday, May 26 at Westside. The pool is scheduled to open on Monday, May 25. I hope you all get an opportunity to enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend! 

This will be my 5th summer coaching the Westside Wave. I am very happy to welcome Jacqueline McGue back to coach this summer. She is the Head Coach for the Lima Senior Girls swim team and coached for the Wave in 2023. Carla McPheron will be joining us this summer to help coach our younger/newer swimmers. She will be working with our swimmers that will be newly acquiring competitive swim skills. Angela Fronzaglia and Vivian Elrod will be assisting with our younger swimmers for the 9:15am practices.

First Week
Starting Tuesday, at 6:00pm, we will host our first "practice." From 6:00-7:00pm we will have our 10 and under group in the water and any swimmer that will be participating on a swim team for the first time. For all of our new swimmers, we will be conducting swim assessments during this time. We will host our 11 and older swimmers for their first training session from 7:00-8:00pm. We will only train in the evening the first week.

Parent Meeting Tuesday May 26
There is a parent meeting at 6:45pm on Tuesday. Our parent representatives and coaching staff request that all parents attend this meeting so we can share some league updates along with the presentation of a team fundraiser, which is a big part of our developmental plan for our team.

We need to replace the lane lines and purchase timing equipment (we are still using hand-held watches!) to ensure that we can continue hosting meets at our home pool. Please attend so we can get this fundraiser moving! We will also have the Crumbl Cookie truck at our home meet verse Wapak on June 25 and will have a Chipotle night on July 8th! Julia Etzkorn has put a lot of time and energy into this for the team, I sincerely appreciate all of her help.

Week 2
Starting June 1, all training sessions will be in the morning Monday-Friday. The 11 and older swimmers will be 7:45-9:00am and the 10 and younger swimmers will be practicing from 9:15-10:15am.
